True enough. But I guess I am trying to argue that there are degrees of self selection when it comes to product reviews.

You must make a lot of assumptions about people. I simply understand data collection and the limitations of various forms of it. But thanks for proving the CR cult is alive and well.

Subscribers are going to be rather like minded with CR’s staff. Then only a subset of subscribers return the survey.

But CR is considered credible by many. It’s like the US News College Rankings; they’re totally bullshit but they’re the industry standard, and now every college plays to their survey. If nobody points out that CR’s methodology is bullshit, everyone will believe it, and mark my words, the headline will be repeated by

CR IMO is a whole scam. They rate a 911 and GTR as bad because they have harsh rides and are uncomfortable. They basically cater to cars that are Camry’s. Car has sporty steering? Rated as heavy steering that is tedious when parking.
