Bottas clearly moves left before the kink so he was not just following the racing line. He did not want to give up the inside to Russell which makes complete sense... but moving right after the kink to pinch him was stupid.

The racing line changes based on situation. A car attempting to overtake would be one of those situations where your line changes.  You don’t get to drive with blinders on like nothing is going on around you.

It’s a straight and the car behind you has a 30 km/h advantage. You have 1 defensive move. Being vague about your intentions is a great way to DNF.

Disagree on the 2nd one because of the exact result that happened. Lead driver should telegraph to the following car which direction they want them to go and then move over closer to the braking zone if they’re still alongside. Squeezing someone in the middle of a straight is stupid and how you end up with a DNF.

He followed the correct line - if a guy driving a Mercedes just moves off his line to allow a Williams to pass him, then his career is over. He can’t let himself be bullied in that situation.
