I’m surprise he was around this long. He was basically the guy to restructure the company, take the heat for tough decisions, and then hand it over to someone else to run it.

Getting rid of Joe Hinrichs was a way bigger mistake.  Joe understood manufacturing and employees at all levels loved him.  Ford is an auto manufacturer first and foremost and has to execute on that portion of it’s business to perfection.

The buffer in our areas was paid for by the government (can’t remember if it was Federal or State) to slow runoff of silt/sand into local rivers.  They stopped paying for it and that land got tilled to the ditch back the next season.
