Funny, I’ve had the opposite experience and my peers in the Detroit area echo it. Our collective opinion is the automakers overpay for talent (because how else do you get someone to move to Detroit?) and when coupled with the low cost of living area provides incredible opportunities.

I always wondered how they got people to show up without friends/family. Did they tell them they were in the running for a contest?
