Yep. racing needs to be a spectacle. No one is going to go out of their way to watch relatively slow open wheel cars just because they’re electric.
Or one big kid will dominate for a couple years and everyone else will quit playing... and then the big kid finds some other series to race in.

The problem is the use of production body shapes. Bringing an example from GTLM, the Ford GT and the Chevy Corvette will not produce similar lap times if given “similar power to weight ratios and power distribution”.
I still would like to find out what the “off track circumstances” were that resulted in Leh Keen getting let go. Speculation is that Cooper MacNeil required setup compromises that were hampering Leh’s pace.
These testing costs are amortized over so many units that they’re insignificant.

OE’s (and their suppliers) spend a tremendous amount of money making that product reliable. FEA simulations, lab testing, millions of miles of on road testing, etc.
