Stubb was mainly talking about his STI, which is a turbo, and could likely get close to 50hp more from a tune.

He was talking about an STi. That has a turbo. But yea, no way a tune will get 50 horsepower more from a production NA motor, absolutely.

You told your kids they weren’t worth it?

A bet a tune will give it 50 more horsepower. Why not just do that and absolve your horsepower FOMO?

I’m in the same position now with my Audi. I sourced a perfectly good shape 100k mile 2.0t engine from a good friend (they did a 2.7t swap but had previously run the engine with a stage 1 tune without issue for a few years). My current engine burns oil like crazy (bad piston rings), had the cam follower blow up 40k

That holds about as much water as the “red T means it makes more power” for the early b7 generation.

This is glorious.

I order most of my stuff from Europa Parts if I can, but sometimes ECS’s pricing makes things hard to resist. I use ECS’s site a LOT to identify parts numbers and look at pictures, but I don’t often order from them. There are a handful of discount Genuine parts dealers (GAP, aka genuineaudiparts.com is my favorite)

Audi seems to know how to integrate their MMI really well, but its still a bit clunky. Some things get buried and sometimes its not totally clear how to navigate to different inputs or get to certain settings.

Get an A4 Avant, and just ignore the reliability part!

What about the Nissan Kicks!

As a fellow UX designer, most car infotainment systems are a clusterfuck. The germans seem to be particularly terrible (MB is the worst in my experience) from a logic standpoint (designed by engineers, no logical organization to anything) while the japanese tend to be way too busy (too many competing colors, rich

Oh crap. Yea loans. Derp!

Preach. I’m in my 2008 A4 Avant for the long haul because Audi decided to never sell a 6MT wagon in the US ever again after 2008. So, despite my brand loyalty, I’m not interested in any car they’ve built since then because I have a strange (well, strange to non-jalops) affinity for wagons and 3 pedals. I suppose I

Yea, 60-month lease is asinine.

There is an older woman who drives a mid-00s Explorer Sport near me, with an M5/// badge on it. I really want to ask why, but I’m not sure I want to know the answer...

Every other Uber/Lyft driver with a Prius does this. I think it starts as a misguided attempt to protect the doors from dings caused by inconsiderate passengers opening doors like maniacs, but then snowballs into the realm of insanity. I’ll never understand, nor, frankly, do I want to.

I absolutely agree, but as you said its all about what you want. I love taking corners fast adn hard when its safe, but not everyone does. My wife thinks I’m a moron for wanting snow tires because she grew up in Vermont where they have real winters and we don’t need “Snow tires” here in Seattle. While she’s not wrong,

The one issue with your argument, when ont he road you’re surrounded by people with questionable decision making skills (aka, idiots). Not being an idiot is all well and good but you can’t control the level of external idiocy on the roads. So its better to just be prepared with suitable tires, than rely on your skill

Winter tires are designed for cold temps. They work best in cold temps. All season tires are designed for a wide range of temps, tehrefore they’re not really optimized for any. Its not just snow and ice, its cold temperatures too.
