haha. That was just the first credible sounding link I could find online comparing siped to non-siped tires. Theres surprisingly very little formal evidence out there, either for or against siping. Which seems strange considering how commonly I notice siping marks on tires on random cars.

CR disagrees. Yes there are potential benefits in snow and ice, but otherwise they hurt performance.
