I agree with this. My wife laughed out loud a few times which she doesn’t do often so theres that.
Its seems you’re morally opposed to borrowing, which is fine. If you choose to live your life that way more power to you. I am working towards living debt free myself and I hope to get there soon (mortgage aside). However my metrics for “cost of ownership” clearly differ from yours. I see my car purchases as emotional…
I calculated this out a while back, but I believe I am paying a bit over 10% of the purchase price in interest over the term. Which isn’t a particularly huge premium in my mine for the flexibility of paying it out over a very long term like 72 months. It would be less, but I chose to get disability/loss-of-life…
“Cash is the correct way to buy a car.”
So Faraday Future was a Ponzi scheme?
Thats not necessarily they thrust of the article. I think they underlying point is that lots of people bought new cars on long term loans in the past few years and now 1/3 of those loans havent yet hit their depreciation/loan value inflection point. I was underwater on my loan for a while because I rolled in negative…
But can you even?
I’m not saying they can’t produce torque, but the power delivery is just....different. I’m not hating on gas by any means. Just saying gas isn’t automatically better.
You know what torque is though, right?
“Owning any Ferrari is stupid, I reason, so why not get the stupidest one?”
Dodge Avenger sedan with bald all season tires in late fall for a month. Wet roads were terrifying. Dry roads were sketchy. Massive torque steer, yet zero power. Least responsive transmission on the planet. Worst, most numb steering ever. I was SOOOOO happy when my damn Audi finally got out of the shop after a month…
I’ve driven both. I say the number of gears is irrelevant around town, I rarely get higher than 3rd or 4th anyway. And on the highway having a lower cruise gear is great for the wallet. I find shifting enjoyable (maybe I’m a masochist?) but I much prefer 6 to 5 when it comes to my trannies (double entendre?).
I can play this game too (with bonus citation):
Basketball is a garbage sport.
Oh good lord. Thats like saying a “Sports Car” must be front engine, rear-wheel drive.
So who is going to be the first person who gets their leg crushed getting in this thing and being a bit hasty closing the door?
Can confirm, the Race version, while it doesn’t lift as high, doesn’t weigh as much as a planet. Which it helpful when, like me, you don’t have a garage and have to lug said jack from the basement, around the house, and out to the curb to commence wrenching.
The tailpipe bothers youbut not the SUV ride height? Or the way too skinny tires? Or the cheap glued-on bodykit look?
If I had the bankroll to have one of those, I wouldn’t associate with all you riffraff either, to be fair.
