It really looks like you’re trying to argue a totally separate point on an article it doesn’t relate to. The quality of the games is totally irrelevant, they are having their products stolen and charged back costing them a small fortune. Trying to pin this down to visual novels being a more niche genre as the root of

I’m not sure if you read the article but MangaGamer wasn’t hit by a spate of piracy, they were hit by a ‘hacker’ buying up their keys in bulk with stolen credit cards and then being hit with ridiculous charge back fees.

Does Gabe Newell have anything to say on that?

Just to add, I really don’t think the consumer is in need of protecting here. As I stated before, there tons of ways to purchase games legitimately for great prices, sometimes I even feel guilty at how low a game is being sold for, these additional avenues like G2A are being buoyed by criminality and unethical

They absolutely should be able to resell things they’ve purchased but we’ve been reading about these sorts of stories for years now with key resellers. The ease at which people can bulk buy keys and resell them with almost no risk to themselves (provided they do basic op-sec) is very worrying. In order to sell stolen

I don’t disagree bundles can contribute to that as well but the main difference is a publisher/developer consents to taking part in a bundle. They do not consent to having their keys resold on third party sites.

I think your assertion that all Indie games are 90% likely to be bundled within 6 months of release is way

Then we’re lucky we live in the golden age of affordable PC games. Tons of competition, sales that wildly slash prices and a consumer friendly slope in price after release. Not to mention bundles and giveaways.

There are plenty legal and ethical avenues to acquire great games at affordable prices. What G2A does is

Totally agree. I managed to dissuade a friend from buying from G2A recently in their quest to save 2 dollars. It was a game they were going to get literally hundreds of hours of enjoyment from. The vast majority of consumers aren’t even aware of how G2A and its ilk operate, they see the cheaper prices and that’s all

Got to feel for MangaGamer, they literally did nothing wrong and were just the victims of a spiteful and malicious manchild. People like Reis will always exist so it’s up to companies to make sure they have no place to go, no avenue to profit from without more risk of exposing themselves.

I hate to say it but with

No worries, I mean it’s not like you’re left with a bad OS. Windows 7 is/was great. It still functions perfectly well so if it’s a lot less hassle for you to stick with it then maybe that’s the best option.

Damn, well that’s a serious streak of bad luck. I almost hesitate to ask but are you sure you’re upgrading properly? Have you tweaked the BIOS on those systems or something else that could interfere with the update process?

I’ve upgraded maybe 15? systems now and only had 2 boot issues, both were upgrading from 7 and

That’s fair enough, I know it can be stressful upgrading your main system, especially if that system was expensive. I made the jump from Windows 7 to 10 and was pretty damn impressed with the upgrade. Faster boot times, better CPU core usage, nicer UI and some much needed features like better dual monitor support and

Reminds of how FromSoftware handled the whole poise stat thing in DS3. If developers refuse to talk to their players about issues within the game or fix basic mechanics then the player base will simply bypass them.

Pokémon Go is bigger than Niantic now, they either keep up or let the people who are willing to put in

Actually there’s lots of reasons to upgrade. This is the best OS Microsoft have released in my opinion, improvements across the board. I expect it to get even better now the free-upgrade period is over and they’ll have more resources to dedicate to system advances.

FYI I’m getting better gaming performance in a ton of

Don’t let one bad experience taint the entire OS for you. Use an ISO to do a fresh install and then simply reinstall your backups. I’m on the Windows Insider program so I’ve experienced my fair share of boot issues as the bleeding edge stuff comes through but with proper care you’ll rarely if ever suffer permanent

Not to dismiss this issue but I’d ALWAYS recommend purchasing old games from GOG rather than Steam when available. They keep the games compatible with new OS’s and are pretty quick with the fixes when something changes.

I’m a huge Steam user but for anything pre-2007 I head to GOG.

Why would you pirate an OS that’s been offered for free?

I don’t think you’re doing piracy right.

We have no idea what this streamer does off-stream so I think it’s unfair to categorize based on your suspicions. Just because you don’t find her as witty as others do don’t speak for everyone.

Are the majority of her viewers there because she’s attractive and flirty? Maybe, does it matter?

Unless she has engaged in

Brilliant article, exactly the kind of stuff I come to Kotaku for!
