I’m glad you’re starting to see the overlap between 4chan and white supremacist symbology.

When white supremacist figures started using the symbol whilst meeting other white supremacists at white supremacist gatherings, it went beyond a ‘4chan troll’.

Symbols and gestures evolve over time. Does it still mean ‘ok’ in most contexts? Absolutely. Do white supremacists use it to dog whistle, gaslight and signal

I think people are just a little sensitive at the moment because of everything going on. Seeing people broadcast misinformed opinions in regards to science and public health, even innocently like it seems you did, is raising people’s hackles.

Just mark this one up as ‘well now I know’ and it’s all good.

This is a common myth but the flu shot cannot give you the flu. You may experience a mild immune response for a few days afterwards but it is absolutely not the flu virus you were being immunized against.

For those who genuinely want to discern fact from fiction, these sorts of services are amazing and I’m hoping more can be developed in a post-Covid world. Rightly or wrongly, many of the best news sources we have lock their content behind paywalls and those peddling propaganda and misinformation give their content

Has there been any word on if/how it will be aired outside of the US?

Am I missing something or did you not include a link to the actual site the article is discussing?

You’re suggesting that if he hid his struggles with mental illness he’d be doing a lot better?

What is it you’re trying to say here?

I’d love to be playing it right now but my device isn’t compatible apparently, despite meeting the hardware and software requirements. The list of compatible devices seems bafflingly small for such a big release.

I’m able to play Pokémon Go so hopefully at some point I’ll be allowed to join in -shrug-

Just chiming in for ‘Ian McClelland’ - gold.

That is some of the most ridiculous reaching I’ve ever seen.

You’ve turned ‘Kid lies to have fun playing video games’ into some sinister pseudo-diagnosis.

Everything you just wrote says a lot more about you than it does about a 12 year old living the dream playing Fortnite.

I have so many fond memories of this game and it introduced me to a ton of SW lore I wasn’t aware of as a kid. It makes me sad that it hasn’t received a sequel or a remaster.

When you have to use double parenthesis, you’re probably overexplaining yourself.

Yes.

I don’t actually understand why tags are replacing communities when they are pretty disparate features.

Perhaps the removal of communities at the same time is coincidental and will be reinstated when Twitch have modified/improved them in some way?

What a bizarrely sloppy roll-out of what should be a great feature.

How can you possibly launch a curated list of tags without even basic genres covered?

And will Twitch be policing the use of tags to make sure that streamers are using them appropriately and not trying to game the system as per the last example?

What a shame, I was really interested to see what the next evolution of the company would be, with the era of their Telltale engine coming to a close.

I suppose one too many iterative titles, reliance on licensed IPs and general consumer malaise all probably had a hand in their eventual downfall. But they pioneered a

That’s great! But I’d say that experience is in the minority.

For many, including myself, this is not the case. Twitter became a largely hostile, vain and stressful environment. I’ve spoken to so many people where creating a halfway hospitable ecosystem was so much work it was not worth it, and they would inevitably

No, not really. The opposite in fact.

Because it’s decentralized and without a corporate overseer, there are no algorithms dictating what you see and prompting engagement. It’s also a much flatter UX experience that largely prevents these ‘super users’ with millions of followers setting the tone for everyone else.

As

It’s open-source and non-profit so it’d be quite some trick if I had some sort of financial stake.

If Kotaku users wanna’ throw me a few dollars per response on this thread though I wouldn’t argue :)

You guessed correctly - I also follow Gita over there too :)

It’s actually the only social media I use anymore, I abandoned Twitter maybe a year ago now and wasn’t looking to replace it but Mastodon’s pro-social atmosphere was enticing.

In my experience, and it may vary for others, it’s been a largely positive and
