You and I are using different but equally valid meanings for the word “apply”. You mean in the sense of “being applicable or relevant”, a sense in which I would agree with you because the law, as written, does not make exceptions for the police in cases of this type. But I was using it in the sense of “being put into…
In my experience, the kind of person who thinks it’s sensible to confront people in a car in the middle of the night— who he suspects just committed a crime—with a gun, is the kind of person looking for an excuse to use that gun. These people are very good about mis-perceiving how much danger they’re actually in,…
That is true. But if you noticed them and they did not notice you, you have the entire situation stacked in your favor. You can comfortably take your time to arm yourself, stay in your house, take pictures of the persons/vehicle, call the authorities, lock your doors, bake a pie, etc.
Gun owner needs to go to prison for attempted murder. Plain and simple. There was absolutely no reason for him to come out of his home to confront those people. ZERO REASON. If he saw them kidnap someone, yes. If he saw them rob somebody or destroy property, yes. But just sitting in a car, idling at 1:30 am is not a…
I’m typically one of the few folks on this site that will jump in and try to push back a little about the kneejerk call for gun control that typically happens in these threads. Why? I’m some sort of masochist, I guess.
Because it’s the games fault that a guy went outside and shot at innocent people because he heard a few words that they were saying.
From their perspective, his story, some guy with a gun suddenly appeared and was mugging them.
I know this is just going to be used as another excuse for people to dogpile on and repeat gun control memes, but even so this guy is flatly in the wrong for apparently going in front of somebody’s car and brandishing on them and giving them orders.
Very true, I’ve had quite enough of people screwing in public. Just do it at home, folks!
Hipster? This incident is stupid but are we really considering anyone who doesn’t like/don’t want to play GO a hipster? That’s just silly.
