I doubt the amperage is enough to charge the battery. Solar panels are low amp, while those batteries, by design, must be high amperage (more amperage available to discharge is more power, simple as that). If the solar panel’s output is less than the battery’s, then it will never charge it.

It’s the same car. Technology hasn’t jumped forward THAT much. And you do know that press releases are written by marketing people, not engineers.

Arguing that it has no effect on the powertrain.

One of my friends was a junior engineer at Fisker when they were located in Delaware. According to him, the roof panel supplemented the battery to power the accessories (radio, A/C, lights, etc.), NOT the car itself. This also lines up with all the standard press kit of 2011.

None of those are QR engines, which was the specific engine, with specific problems I mentioned. I also mentioned how the QR’s issues were an anomaly compared to the rest of their lineup.

The early QR25s were a disaster. They had a tendency to froth their oil because of a set of balance shafts in the pan. This would cause premature bearing failure. They also had issues with failed headgaskets and warped cylinders because they did not reinforce the cylinder walls enough.

And Honda decided to lose a bunch of cargo room in favor of a swoopy roofline. Bravo Honda, bravo.

I saw one of these with a twin turbo RX-7 engine swapped in. It was a glorious sound when it pulled away.

Didn’t the Japanese housing bubble contribute a lot to Honda pulling out of F1? Racing in CART was much cheaper since a lot of parts were heavily regulated. I can’t imagine Honda would build a car for kicks and giggles and then never race it, especially when their home economy was crumbling around them.

“Mah name is Mork.”

There just aren’t words...I watched him at Indy the last two years. Always gunning for him as a dirt track kid with a dream. The kind of dream we all have. He could have been the next Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon. What a loss...

The sound of this V12 is all part of the experience, it’s like an old F1 car.

I don’t think the Genesis ever got away from it’s Hyundai badge. The 2.0 is the engine out of the EVO X (also probably part of the reason the car is being killed: no new turbo engine) and the chassis has shown a ton of promise in Formula D. But, just like the Lexus LF-A, the Genesis was always fighting that badge on

I’m pretty sure someone at Niantic/Nintendo/Pokemon goofed. The beta ran until June 30th...and the game was public July 5th. There were a lot of bugs in the beta (almost none of which were resolved in the public release) and many of the promised features didn’t work. Someone opened Pandora’s box too early because

They’ll start to get noisy when the bearings are failing. or they’ll start leaking. Or usually both (leaks tend to precede worn internals as the fluid lubricates the pump).

Modern racecars never catch on fire? Bullshit.

If the drivetrain was still there it would have been worth saving. Now it might be better to give it an SRT-4 swap and call it a day.

If the FIA had half a brain (and it has proven time and again that they have only about 1/8 of a brain), they would mandate that F1 and WEC have the same rules for powertrain and chassis design. I.E. a WEC chassis would be legal under F1 rules with different bodywork and an F1 engine would be allowed in WEC with more

And yet all closed cockpit racecars have them. Ask any racecar driver what their greatest fear is. It isn’t broken bones, concussions, decapitation, dismemberment, broken backs, blunt force trauma, or crushing. It’s fire. Even AJ Foyt, a driver who destroyed his back, legs, and right arm at different times in his
