I'll be discussing this a lot more in an essay on body dysmorphia vs. gender dysphoria.

I think Tiger-On was making a silly joke: Why can't I identify as a fish if I want to???? It's a joke that can be seen as at the expense of those for whom identity words are more serious. But it might be a pretty lighthearted joke about the whole "we can all choose how we identify" culture.

I have nothing to add, having no recall of the book, but I thought this blog post about about a pilot trying to get some Japanese tourists to an Anne-related location might amuse you. :)

Every time I hear about a story like this I'm stunned. Not because somebody put weed in a burger (Wut? But whatever. With hundreds of millions of people in this country, there will be some weirdos). What stuns me is that they got the press involved — that they felt so aggrieved and/or (emphasis on the "and") they

Yay etc.

Not sure you're getting my point. But anyway! I'm just trying to helpful. I wish much success for you and the new blog. :)

Yes but you want people coming here for this! Not coming by when they're in the neighborhood and nothing else caught their attention more that second! :)

But — hehe — I came here because it was shared to GT. You want people coming to ROYGBIV for socials on purpose (like I used to go to Jez on social nights on purpose). Not by chance because they clicked through from somewhere else. That necessitates set nights.

:)

Sometimes there will be...

I'm sorry, I'm not the person to talk to about this. I was just trying to address why I thought this particular list was likely free of the problems you raised.

I think the difference is that these people are being celebrated for their visibility as trans folks.

But these people are being celebrated for their contributions to trans activism and visibility as far as I can tell — not for just being trans and doing a thing. So I doubt there's much room for error.

I fully expect Kat Callahan to be on next year's list. :)

I totally agree. I just found it surprising how similar the guys' approaches are.

I agree. I'm just noting how similar their language and presentation is — not how it affects us as gay or straight women.

Eeeesh. Strangely, this sounds exactly like my experience as a cis straight woman in the States. All the "are you suuure you're not interested" questions, and ideas about changing my mind? And the occasional dick pic? I don't know how much of this is lesbian-specific.

I'm not really sure the child's murder had anything to do with his supposedly being gay, no matter what the parents said. It sounds like they were so violent and hateful it would have happened whatever their pathetic reasoning. Fucked up that homophobia is how they channeled their issues, of course.

I'm the opposite — I think it's delicious but ethically unsound. But I already knew you were a heartless bastard. :)

You care about geese?
