How can there not be such a thing as attempted rape? I guess maybe many cases could be characterized as sexual assault and maybe the category doesn't exist legally...? But that doesn't mean it doesn't exist as a phenomenon. (Ugh, I am just realizing how ignorant I am about something I care a lot about.)

I was asking just about attempted rape, not rape. Rape requires penetration. I'm not using the word in any kind of figurative way. I know what rape is. I'm just not clear about what counts as *attempted* rape (legally, but also conceptually, as we might not agree with the legal definition).

Well, right. The scenarios I mentioned wouldn't be rape. But attempted rape? Is there anything that could happen, before physical contact, that would count as attempted rape? How about "I'm going to kill you if you don't let me fuck you without struggling"? If you agree that's attempted rape, then how about threats

It's awesome! And Blanda Eggenschwiler at *Sauce* restaurant is even better.

Eh, date rapists & awful guys in general have a big stake in perpetrating the myth that "no" doesn't always mean "no" — hence charming phrases like "no means maybe; maybe means yes; and yes means anal."

Yes, you can get guys being confused. But you can also get a ton of them faking confusion. I read somewhere that *by far* the most effective way to stop rape/attempted rape in situations where the guy is pretending to believe it's consensual (so not what you're talking about necessarily, but related) is not to say

"Attempted rape requires some sort of physical action taken to get sex"

Eh. There are some things you'll never understand because you can't see them from the inside out. A man will never understand what it's like to be a woman from the inside out. Etc. The rest of it — you learn shit, you work, and you try to be compassionate. Your whole question strikes me as narcissistic bullshit. Why

Just, yes.

I really dislike the performers who are cross-labeled as hyper-sexual and for-children. Katy Perry and before her Britney and her ilk. Britney was on Rolling Stone in her panties and still performing for little children as a role model, because she was young and a virgin. It's this terrible hypocrisy taught to kids

I read your other post. You've never been attracted to anyone, never had sex, and never read a book (enough to develop any preferences). Are you trolling?

"...but if kids want to wear that outfit, it's not up to Katy Perry to wear a different outfit, it's up to parents t0 explain why they're uncomfortable with that idea."

I feel old saying this, but since it was a party for military *children* why did she feel the need to wear a bustier? Wouldn't it be great if, when performing for 9 year olds, she wore normal, pretty clothes instead, a prettier version of the sort a kid might wear? Instead of suggesting that beauty = sparkly

I'm totally ignorant about TV/radio ratings but isn't there a database? I hear all the time about top ratings, and I thought that was among the ways companies decided where to advertise.

Don't see your point. Of course they are the ones making an issue of it, because they're the ones who think it should be one ("it" = "murdered babies" not "abortion politics.") Consistent with that is their assertion that "nobody cares (except us) about murdered babies." Where's the straw man?

So...what are the accurate numbers?

He doesn't mean that, obviously. But it's an especially sick image to create, because rape with a gun (and being shot in the vagina) is common in several conflict zones (e.g. DRC & Sudan).

Actually (contra my previous comment) he means: liberals' perfect world has no guns in it. If abortions required guns, there'd be no abortions in that world. He's making a sick, cynical connection between pro-choice and anti-gun activism.

I recently started this! I work late nights alone, and hate-listening to conservative talk radio is the way I stay awake and amused.

He imagines that an abortion involves killing a (formed) baby in utero, instead of suctioning out a fetus. He's suggesting the baby be born alive and shot, thus giving the abortionist and the woman a visceral lesson in what they're actually up to, in the hope of engendering moral apotheosis.
