You may have heard of hellcats, demons, redeyes, scat packs, and hemis.

GT3 has 500hp, it has a manual.  ZF brand, IIRC

Porche gets around this because they route shifter over the top of the engine to the transmission. But Porche uses a straight 6 lying flat, whereas this Corvette is going to run a fat v8.

Couldn’t they reach out to ZF or getrag and have them start with an existing manual transaxle unit for the basis of the new design, saving some R&D costs?

Oh good grief they don’t have to design a manual completely from scratch in house.  ZF already makes a great transaxle for porsche.  Getrag also, IIRC.  Wouldn’t be hard for GM to reach out to them for a solution based on an existing manual transaxle.

You’re assuming the all-new DCT from Tremec will be trouble-free.  If it has issues, there are no other options for consumers.

DCT is even changing my mind, and I’m die hard manual. Pretty cool tech.

They could make a cable shifter fit.

Yes. Just bought a Jeep JL and ordered it with a manual. $2k less than the automatic option. And it’s an all-new Aisin 6 speed (high quality trans).

Mike, my faith in Ford’s ability to come in to the EV market a little late but with a superior product is so strong I bought Ford stock! Excited to see what the F-150 will do. People think the eco-boost has torque....haha

We have owned both versions of the F-150, same model “generation” 2 yrs apart, the ecoboost and a 5.0, and the 5liter averages almost the exact same mileage over long distance trips and long time periods (not resetting for 3months, for instance).

I can see that I suppose. Although in a sports/performance car I want the full ICE noises in all their glory. Other cars, especially like you point out, with average engines....well yes those can go away. I just bought a new JL wrangler, it’s super quiet with no engine noise which is fine, and that rig would be much

Gotcha makes sense.  When I hear all-seasons I’m thinking skinny grippy etc.  haha

call me when ICE cars stop receiving billions upon billions of explicit and implicit fossil fuel subsidies

Came here to say this. The coal mining and natural gas industry is also subsidized. EV fanbois don’t really think their arguments through. Or they don’t understand the sources of the nation’s electrical grid.  Maybe both.

Thankfully, most people in the performance automotive industry disagree with you. Hell even the plebs that aren’t into cars agree that a great sounding ICE car is cool.

How would you predict a P100D will do on a track against the C8?

I’m excited about the C8. I am most interested in a low end version, maybe even the non-Z51 with all-season tires.

In all fairness the ford coyote is a pretty damn good performer for its size.

Yessir. I even found one for less than that, I think it was either $55k or 58k, can’t remember for sure, but the ones that had more miles on them and fewer options were the sweet spot. It was during the great recession. My buddy almost pulled the trigger but couldn’t bring himself to pay that much for “a used car out
