I’m not surprised. I don’t think the food is all that special, but when I’ve gone to Chick-Fil-A the service has been good and they’ve always gotten my order right.

Not only that, but some people are turning away from the NFL for decidedly liberal reasons: the blackballing of Kaepernick, the continued tonedeafness and indifference toward domestic abuse and sexual assault (while simultaneously putting guys on a path to being kicked out of the league for smoking weed), the…
Yeah, my beef with that sentence is that none of the numbers mentioned are sufficient on their own for you to draw a conclusion. Go back way further and there was a generation that could buy a house for $12,000...so what? Prices go up over time. Throwing out an arbitrary number without factoring in the median…
They’ve largely ruined a good sports station in Chicago ever since taking over. I despise them.
Yup. No doubt it’s going to be a culture shock, and moving across the country for work to an area where you know nobody is tough for anyone who does it. The Celtics should absolutely support him in the transition. That said, missing your introductory press conference and a flight in the same week are not a good look…
Is it, though? If he stays in the East and makes 3 or 4 more consecutive Finals appearances, the people who criticize him for not winning titles will still do so. It appears that the only way he’ll win more titles is to beat Golden State. Being in the Western Conference at least means he’ll meet them a few games…
In fairness, Luke Heimlich is currently not a professional baseball player when he unquestionably would have been drafted very high had he not committed that crime. The stuff the Royals have been saying about him, essentially minimizing what he did to lay the groundwork for signing him, is bad but so far his crime has…
I wasn’t arguing that a specific number of people can actually find a house for 1.5x their annual income (although, if you take a two-income household where both partners have good jobs, it’s possible in many areas). I was pointing out, using intentionally extreme examples, that the percentage put down doesn’t tell…
Once you get the mortgage paid off, you can put that same amount monthly into retirement and possibly come out ahead.
...and buying more house than they could afford in the first place (that those adjustable-rate mortgages made it appear they could afford only when they were paying next to nothing in interest at the beginning).
Yeah, as more information comes out, it seems probable that Bosio is lying and what he actually said was quite offensive: https://theathletic.com/413630/2018/06/29/sources-chris-bosio-was-fired-for-directing-a-racial-slur-at-a-clubhouse-attendant/
I also don’t understand the “pay it off early by paying more each month” mentality unless your interest rate is high enough that you can’t invest your money elsewhere to offset it.
That might be true if housing was a luxury good, but it’s not. All of us need housing, and the vast majority of us have to pay for it. So it becomes a question of renting vs. buying. In some markets one is significantly cheaper than the other.
Something strange is going on here. Are there any contractual reasons why the Tigers would be prohibited from publicly sharing what Bosio said that made them fire him?
Very well said.
I still give it an overall thumbs up, but I agree about the difficulty of suspending disbelief. I also had zero sympathy for the main characters who were dumb enough to reproduce in a world where making a sound puts you at risk of dying...but then again, people make reproductive decisions almost as bad every day in…
Hey, remember when Kyle Hendricks was good?
The difference between Infinite Jest and a TV series like Westworld is that when you read a novel that is intentionally difficult and jumbled, you read it with the knowledge that you are getting the full story that the author wanted you to read. Whereas with a TV series, you have to make a considerable time commitment…
Sadly, the donuts are mediocre and more often than not stale. Obviously not made fresh every day anymore. The coffee is great though, much better than bitter Starbucks.
The sad truth is, the major difference was that Heimlich’s victim was so young that even the “she probably wanted it” crowd that comes around every time an athlete is accused of rape wouldn’t defend him.
