I mean, I would prefer a 10-3 game where two great defenses stifled good QBs, but on the whole I much prefer it to a 45-42 slugfest where it feels like scoring is inevitable on every single possession and whoever gets the ball last is going to win. I guess the latter is better for the Red Zone generation.

I don’t understand how the second guy jumping on him after Fowler had already brought him to the ground was not a penalty.

I have to quibble with one thing. Isn’t the term “quack doctor” typically used to describe someone who is a doctor and also makes dubious claims or has a history of malpractice? Guerrero is nowhere close to actually being a real doctor so calling him a quack doctor seems to be actually overselling his qualifications.

It’s true that it is far from a foregone conclusion that Garoppolo will be an elite QB. On the other hand, it is a foregone conclusion that Brady is at the very tail end of his career. Despite his bullshit claims, he ain’t playing until 45.

Then they’re really, really stupid. The only teams who should be interested in a 40-year-old QB are 1) teams that might be a great QB away from a Super Bowl, and 2) teams that don’t have their next developmental QB and might as well generate some interest in their bad team for the next year or two.

How did Garoppolo lose? He was traded to a team that wanted him to start and he will command a large contract - at least as large as anything he could have demanded had he finished this season sitting on the bench behind Brady.

I agree with your assessment of Garoppolo’s talent, but because they have to pay him big money right away, it’s not quite true that he only cost a 2nd round pick. I’d still rather have the Niners QB situation than all but a few other teams, though, factoring in age.

I would think that if the money is there (and why wouldn’t the Niners be willing to be the highest bidder after how good he looked and after giving up a high pick for him?), Garoppolo should be amenable to staying in SF.

Yes. Also, whenever someone uses the term “adulting,” the magnitude of their complaint is invariably tiny. “Ugh, I got home from work and I had to take out the garbage and take 90 seconds to pay a bill online. Adulting sucks.” You never hear somebody use the term in relation to real problems.

Having a decent QB who’s past his rookie deal is the exact worst spot for a team to be in. Unless you’ve got a great defense (which will be harder to construct with all the cap space your QB is taking up) or get incredibly lucky, you’re not winning a Super Bowl. And you probably can’t move on to try for a really good

Kaepernick is better than Hundley talent-wise. I’m not sure he would have been better than Hundley if he’d been signed off the street when Rodgers got hurt. And if you ranked NFL teams 1-32 in terms of needing a QB to compete for the starting job, GB would be 32, no question, so I don’t really blame them for not

Ryan Pace is probably jerking off to his game tape at this very moment.

It would be so Bulls to somehow play their way into the 8 seed in a tank year.

No, fuck you for saying he’s not as guilty. An innocent man isn’t murdered in his own home unless both parties do what they did. The caller and the cop should both go up on manslaughter or murder charges, depending on what statute allows.

Hell, in this case, maybe not even high stress as much as general confusion. This was not a criminal having cops show up to serve a warrant, or a guy being asked to step out of the car at a traffic stop; this was an innocent citizen who had no idea whatsoever why the police would be at his house.

Basically, Americans are really fucking stupid.

And justifying the murder of an unquestionably innocent man, in his own home, who had no reasonable expectation of being in an interaction with the police, makes you a piece of shit who apparently wants to live in a police state.

My favorite sports moment of 2017 was the Steve Sparks postgame interviews in the Astros locker room after they won the World Series. He sounded blackout drunk and they kept him on the air. The highlights that I remember specifically were him asking one player if he ever wanted to spank the rookies, and then when he

Pouncey is the kind of guy who makes me feel less bad that he’ll probably have CTE.

I love that they felt the need to specify “male” friends.
