To be fair, I only started watching season one of True Blood but didn't even finish that one season before getting distracted by current shows. They did mention some stuff might get added later though. I think they had all seasons of True Blood and The Sopranos so its probably title by title.

I'll have to look into this. This sounds better than my Prodigy account, but I wonder if it will work on my orange monochrome monitor?

Jezebel is doing god's work. This is what the people deserve.

lesbian.

Just entering the magazine's fictive dream for a moment here...Maybe Taylor didn't know if it was a date or not and didn't want to pressure Karli into sexy times, so had another room ready for her in case nothing happened, but had the sheets in her own bed all changed and neat just in case something did happen. Just

I am not sure I am ready to analyze why but I think James Cameron's "Aliens" fits in very nicely. I can watch that over and over. It is interesting, clever, well paced, good characters, etc.

I am never sarcastic when it comes to Terry.

Crews putting the patriarchy to bed.

that was your takeaway from this? Are you disappointed that you had to mention it first?

When a meteor strikes half court right at tipoff and kills both teams, Corey will be laughing at this post all the way to the bank.

I agree ... Lancôme is taking a step forward ... and Lupita is a stunning woman and they are damn lucky to have her as their fresh new face.... Just from the little I have seen of Lupita, I am certain that she is NOT compromising herself or her beliefs or her beauty, but instead is going to open a door and then walk

i dont know about her parent's wealth. I just know from watching movies that they dont have too many roles for black women. Let her make her coins. She has earned it.

Let's be honest. Nothing will change overnight. But consider the fact that a beautiful dark-skinned black woman with natural hair was selected to be the spokesperson of a major cosmetics corporation is pretty big. When I was a kid in the 80's, I couldn't even imagine seeing someone like that represent a company. Sad

"And while it's unfortunate that it takes recognition by a huge beauty product company to legitimize a certain skin color…"

That's a pretty ridiculous assertion. Who, besides Jezebel, is claiming anyone's color is "legitimized" by Lupita shilling Lancome?

There's certainly power in a beauty brand embracing a more

Well congratulations to you, a white woman, for believing that black women should be allowed to exercise freedom to bleach their skin as much as possible to fit the white supremacist beauty standards that are beaten into their brains as the only way to be beautiful. Your mind is fixated on it from YOUR perspective

Maybe they'll start making one now.

It's paternalistic to expect Nyong'o to pass up on opportunity like this - a white woman would never be in a position to make that kind of career/ financial sacrifice, so to judge her for it is in-and-of-itself a wrong thing. Good things will come from people seeing her as the face

I agree that that's problematic but since all of the major cosmetic companies make whitening products does that mean that WOC shouldn't accept these big, public campaigns? It seems like that only reduces the potential for representation.

I'm sorry but how is her point valid? "She'd owned by white men"? I notice that people seem to put these higher expectations on black celebrities than they do others. There are a number of brands that in other global markets make these types of products and Lancome sells thousands of products. Lupita's speech to me

Keep in mind that Lancôme also sells any number of allegedly celluite-reducing, slenderizing creams — and Lupita, like all of their previous "brand ambassadors" is a very slender woman. Nobody ever makes a fuss about this (nor is there any reason to in this *specific* context).

That's true, but this could be an opportunity for Lancome to expand into creating a product that covers everyone. Like when Queen Latifah signed with Cover Girl. I remember back in the day when the only Cover Girl foundation for WOC was tan. Now, they have the Queen Collection and it's actually pretty fab. Which is
