The car makers need the dealers. Until the massive amount of over capacity is eliminated they can’t survive without dealers to move their dead wood.

Actually they don’t “sell” franchises.  

you can say the same thing for any retail transaction. 

Actually they provide a tremendous benefit to the manufacturer.

Most everything is ordered / reserved today....even really ordinary cars

Its not like there is a bunch of dealerships with rows of cars available...what else is there to do but pre-order?

am I the only one who actually likes the dial on the center console and dont care if the screen is touch or not....like Mazda, BMW, MB.

Everyone I know in the way on up there income range are all obsessed with taxes.  Most will spend $10 not to pay $1    

With flat rate....the Tech works for free if the car comes back for the same problem...so I’m not sure the benefit here.  There is more to this story.

My dealership sends an inspection video each time I go in for an oil change or whatever. If it needs something I can see it on the video. That does make me feel slightly better about their work. BTW. I’ve never had a problem but I stay alert.

as long as people think one party has moral superiority over another party this kind of stuff will never stop.   It always takes two to tango in washington and both parties are deeply involved in taking any amount of money to get re-elected and pay off those political debts. 

blaming the wrong people...blame the politicians for writing poor legislation that has a lot of corp loopholes funded by powerful lobbying groups who give all politicians a lot of cash....

I really dislike driving...that said in a former life I always drove Saab’s 9000/9-5 Aero’s because the seats were so fantastic...now its Volvo’s for the same reason

I think this is going to be big for used cars. The MFG will say you don’t have “these options”  but we can add them for $xxx per month.
