When it came together for me was when Eliza was trying to impress a work colleague and went to her aerobics class, which led to some wonderfully goofy flailing by Karen Gillian to the tune of Paula Abdul. (Later when Eliza asks for a favor, she says, “Please, please, a-please-please.”) She’s a really good comic

So sad about Selfie, but you’re right: everyone knows you should avoid dated references, especially in the title.

Great article. I loved Selfie, and it’s just ridiculous how short a stick it got from the network. Cheers never would’ve made it to a second season in today’s network climate. Or Seinfeld.

ABC really has that problem. Someone there is just in love with awful titles. I like to recommend Better off Ted and Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23 to people, but the titles are just embarrassingly bad.

Man, they need to stop giving shitty titles to good shows. Cougar Town at least made a good run, but Selfie is right up there with Trophy Wife and Better Off Ted on the list of great shows that could have lasted a lot longer if they had better names.

Not true. Manchester By the Sea had a much wider theatrical release than anything Netflix gets. It made nearly 50 million dollars in theaters and was in as many as 1213 theaters at one point. That’s basically the norm for a platformed prestige drama, you’d hardly know Amazon was involved.

I disagree. He tries to make grand films that require grand viewing experiences. His movies are meant to be seen in theaters, he’s been filming in IMAX and streaming his movies (particularly Interstellar and Dunkirk) on a TV isn’t the same. I think he’s just a purist and passionate about how movies should be viewed

I mean, he heavily prizes the theatrical experience and his movies are set up to take advantage of that. I can sympathize.

This is genius and deserves more love.

Dem O’Gorgon: Irish hell beast!

He’s the heir to the Mazzerato car fortune.

Stranger Sings?

Mazzerato?

I’ve been trying to finish some of the post-game stuff in Yakuza Kiwami and Haruka’s desire to see me win at billiards against an expert is getting on my last nerve.

Well, I mean the big secret is clearly going to be that he’s gay - right? His dad irrationally hating him, calling him the F word. The shower scene? Anybody?

I haven’t seen this season yet, but it must be said that he looks 35.

Tad is right next to Chad on a list of douchebag names Santa automatically puts in the naughty pile.

Also, I’m glad that this episode cooled some of the “Max is awkward” vibe. I’m sure it’ll come back when he’s back on the road with Leroy, but it was great pairing him off with someone even more awkward than himself.

Easily the best episode. I think this shows that Ghosted could become an ensemble comedy if it wants to. It doesn’t need to, but it could.
