Hmm, I guess one man’s ‘epic car hauler’ is another man’s ‘kludged crap wagon’ I love a good bit of DIY but let’s have some standards.

Might just be other Kinja boards, the crap has seeped in there lately too. :(

This is the quintessential example of Italian car ownership. Peaks of euphoria and pits of despair. My favorite description is still the auto journalist who described it as all ‘fistfights and blowjobs’

Porsche owners are some of the most prolific drivers you’ll find. The 500 vanity mile a year guys cars are typically Italian in origin.

How progressive! Next you’ll be telling me they’re going to let women dress any way they wish and perhaps go somewhere on their own.

The original feedback device were these things called ‘secondaries’. They’re still my preferred method, second only to ‘boost’.

Yes, I weep for the new Supra already being saddled with BMW platform.

The accelerator detent is meant to help fuel economy by providing a tactile point at which you hold the throttle. The alternative is an electronically damped throttle by wire, which is where everything is going as we drive less and are increasingly just providing suggestions to the car.

Let independant shops certify with OEMs and have warranty work handled without horrible showrooms, service centers etc.

You fascinate me. Honestly wondering if you would ever ride a motorcycle? Go to an amusement park? Downhill skiing?

Guess again. I’m the guy in the 80th speed percentile who isn’t being a preachy richard on the interwebs.

Maybe her heroin dealer was a Porschephile?

Good point and a nice example of an NGO and voluntary participation by manufacturers.

It’s not black and white, regulations are good or bad, its about diminishing incremental returns and DOT/NHTSA/WTFBBQ pushing each new requirement like it’s 1967 still while cars average mass keep inching ever upward along with fuel economy standards. You can’t cheat Newton.  These safety standards are fine, but the
