There might be consumer grade cars in the future, but if the “childless urbanites” are all opting out of car ownership, there would be fewer units to amortize over for development. One of two things might happen:

A/C vents made of metal are way better than disintegrating plastic if your car is half a century old. Nobody else keeps their cars for that long, though.

You’ll get that soon enough, you just won’t own it. As autonomous cars become more mature they will eventually become something like small mass transit cars, with lifetimes measured in decades.

I wish I could zoom in, I think one of those might be me!

The “incentive” is that the UBI would be a flat amount indexed to how much the “poor” pay in gas tax, and that any individual action to reduce gasoline usage would be money in the pocket.

The idea is pricing in the negative externalities of gasoline consumption into the pump price. The UBI would make those who need a vehicle to get to/from work whole, without continuing to subsidize fossil fuel use for the rest of the country.

Maybe the shorty-Explorer that’s rumored? If Chicago is running at capacity, a second plant that could handle Explorer/Aviator production would be good. New Edge (I’m guessing “Explorer Sport” since the TTV6 has been moved to the ST nameplate) + PI Utility for Canadian market ought to do it?

And that’s why a massive gas tax should be paired with a UBI that will make it overall revenue neutral.

At least those two weren’t sold in the same market at the same time.

What I meant was that in the last century, drivers, medallion owners, and consumers have collectively figured out an equilibrium that works for the people who depend on the service. Now Uber/Lyft comes in and convinces the entire public that they can provide better service for less, but that “improvement” comes on the

The problem with using Taxi is that the actual costs of providing a ride is more expensive than most people are willing to pay. To get Uber/Lyft rides operationally profitable while charging less than a Taxi but in more expensive equipment, the VCs shovel in a whole lot of subsidy, and it also depends on drivers not

At this point, it’s less Air EV and more Vapor EV.

I’m guessing the gasser is an M5 and the electric one is an i5M?

That’s sadly exactly what’s going on.

Given that it’s Orangevale and has rattle-canned rims, 100% it’s a high school kid in over his head because he didn’t want to drive a Miata of the same vintage.

I thought about suggesting that but that walks into another mental health stigma issue. It is nice to keep the acronym, tho.

I’m sure there are some excellent writers in G/O who could come up with an alternate gloss of CP. Crappy Post? Conspicuously Pricey? Anyone else?

For the 5 people who want that, someone will sell an aftermarket fastback rear section. They do for the Wrangler.

NP if the expired HOV sticker is of no concern to you, CP otherwise.

The 13-14s were problematic, but this 16 should have had its issues sorted out. Plus it appears to be the QNX based Sync 3 on the dash so one fewer problem spot.
