Haha... yeah, I thought Vettel had a good shot at the win because of that very likelihood.  Well done, Max.

LeMans is a pretty close to worst case scenario with its extremely long fast straights -- resulting in a lot of power drain to aero drag that cannot be regained by braking regen.   Formula E shortens the courses for a reason.

LMP 1 cars, the top prototype class, stop about every forty minutes or so for fuel with current rules.

I don’t want to overshare, but in my mind that’s not the part of the 911 where the eyes go.

Those are the higher end GTE 911s that have been winning. BOP is part of that, but they’ve also had some good strategy and some good luck and a ton of factory $$. So I’m not sure really how much of it is BOP.

I’m happy as long as Porsche keeps up a strong GT program.  They’re not really holding their own in the GT3 classes, so maybe could use a bit more focus.  Would love to see a solid effort for the fabled supercar class, too.

Finally, this really is the perfect choice for my Karmann Ghia project.

I like the cheating — adds another element to the spectacle. I think Nascar does a pretty good job of inspecting and enforcing — enough to make the cheating stakes pretty high, but so high as to make people stop pushing for an advantage.

I do, however, like to wear nothing while not eating in my car.

Cadillac (and Lincoln to some extent) seem like an elaborate experiment to see just how much nonsense you can apply to a brand before it completely evaporates. Pick some names, and make them forever, and refine them relentlessly — each version better than the last.  What is a CT4-V and who cares?

Consistently losing in F1 is a full time job.  We can’t spare the resources to commit to consistently losing in Indy at the moment.

Haha, me too!

Zombie veep

He’s been dead for years.

That was my impression at the time. This twitter moment is more ambiguous. I think I pictured him bored in traffic heading home in his tesla, and imagined that was the tunnel he was going to build.

I mean, it was.  This started with Musk musing on Twitter how nice it would be if *he* could drive to his home from his office in *in his Tesla* and avoid all the rubes clogging up the roads.  He’s well on his way to achieving that goal -- he’s just thrown up a bunch of verbal, mass-transit related chaff along the way.

I thought it only used to be a penalty to hit a hose with a driven wheel.  Might be dating myself with the age of that rule.

As cautionary tales go, hardly the worst of the worst. At least you didn’t mix  Too Much Wheel with Ugly Wheel.  That’s a powerful and dangerous cocktail.

Power had a comment they picked up where he said if he’d have known what a big penalty it was going to be [for hitting a crew member] he would have come in more carefully. So, it sounds like there’s probably some room for improvement just in terms of driver education and/or stiffer penalties.

Ouch. That’s what it looked like given where he was hit and how much it looked like it hurt. I hope he has a swift and full recovery.
