AW! Well the cakes are pretty heavily frosted. You could be the biggest fan of buttercream and it’s still painfully thick. But I’ve had good luck with rolls and breads and bagels and omg the sleds of croissants that last about an hour when I get home so I need a decoy.

Plus it’s the only place I can get enough figs.

Most rice cookers keep warm at 150* F, which is above the danger zone of 122* F for this particular bacteria. Check your model’s manual or check with the manufacturer for specific details.

If you’re concerned about bacillus, get your rice cooled down ASAP and into the fridge.

As a follow up, is the rice boonze my father in law makes susceptible to this bacteria or does the fermentation mean we are good to go?

Depends what you’re freezing and how you’re freezing it. Buying a bag of Goya at the store and socking it in your icebox isn’t going to be much more than applied cryogenics. My weekly meal prep consists of the more difficult and time consuming processes - proteins and veggies, things that keep longer after cooking.

As my needs from a warehouse store have changed over the years, Costco has remained the same - for better and worse. I know I can get a 10lb pack of chicken wings at $3/lb year round, but nowadays I only need maybe 3lbs at a time, on top of not being able to grill/smoke as often as I’d like. I’ve been going there

I can’t imagine it was a very crowded flight though, was it? Santiago is a bucket list trip for me. I have no idea when I’d be able to get the time that I want to spend traveling again, but I’d want to spend at least 2 weeks there. It stretches so far compared to my little bubble at home, there would just be so many

That’s absurd. I really hope that was the cost for direct. I think my most expensive trip ever was $6k total and that’s mostly because we splurged on the hotel and excursions.

I have a condition about connecting flights (massive anxiety in airports). I will always pay for business class direct if available, and pay for VIP lounge access if need be. If not, I eat xanax like it’s m&ms.

(disclaimer: I take my prescribed dosage when necessary)

I haven’t flown out of the US in about.. 3? years

Mgr Fav Meat / Clam

That is a shitload of actual words to describe a PB&J sandwich.

I haven’t been to TJs in a while, but I’m fairly certain they discontinued 2 buck chuck. I haven’t tried any of their other available alcohol because I’m a snob, but they’re always the first to have seasonal produce. I can go in a week or 2 ahead of time and find what I want before people realize it’s out and

I’m there for the salsa, various chevre(s?), a realiable influx of kumquats and the ghost of 2 buck chuck. Might as well pick up some treats.

I do better at Costco and BJ’s for snack packery though - at the very least, I’ve got something to come home to and at best I pack a lot of extra stuff. Better to have it and

This is my ideal date night. Of course, I spend it alone and I’m in bed by like 8:27 watching LotR extendeds for the 10000th time, but.. ideal.

Final Fantasy Adventure is the only reason I ever had a Game Boy as a 7 year old. I still have the Nintendo Power issue(s) with the walkthrough kicking around. So good.

fine then, rolls. whatever.

I figured you weren’t that lazy, but people get band-wagony about things and it drives me bonkers.

The only bad thing about cooking with leftovers is that you might not ever be able to make it again. I made beef stroganoff a year? ago from leftovers. I had no sour cream, the totally wrong kind of wine, and no idea

At its most simple, the dish is simply an egg—either poached or fried, but the yolk must be runny—served over a bed of rice.

post this in this week’s open thread! this is awesome
