It’s ok to be Bay.

I got into a HUGE fight with my last boss about using a single bay leaf in our braised lamb shank recipe. Like, 28 or so shanks to a pan accompanied by a shitload of tomato, red wine, garlic, onion, and other assorted seasonings, ONE BAY LEAF, and braised for SIX TO EIGHT HOURS. Just leave it out

white people eradicated entire populations for spices and yet the bay leaf remains a mystery

I live in Massachusetts. Boiled dinner is like, at least monthly in the winter and early spring.

Briskets were cheap (like, $4 for 2lb flats) last weekend and I’m experimenting with some brines and cabbage methods. Most of all I love hash and eggs, which is what these three little bastards are going toward.

Or she had white roses that she painted red, and sang about it.

Reality is a bore :)

I really, really think we should discuss this.

I find that doing it EXternally reeeally lets you project yourself into the dish. In France it’s known as parlant, which you must know, translates to “talking”, and it’s a WONderful way to meet new people or interact with your dog.

There are things I like about this. A lot of things.

But the combination of those things, at that high of a price? That is not something I like.

Rejoice, world! Due to the history of mental health and a whole mess of wacky physical issues in my family I opted for a vasectomy at age 30. Plus my paternal great-grandfather was a huge fucking douchebag (also something about immigration fraud and a love triangle), grandfather was somehow worse and my dad did the

In defense of your grandmother - 70 years ago in NJ, I’m not sure pre-packaged or vacuum bagged frozen geese were available. Home refrigeration had only been around for 20 or so years at the time, and a whole goose takes up a considerable amount of space in refrigerators even today. Best to buy things the day you’re
