In all truth though Apples are hard to beat for what they are. Spec out a 5K monitor and the insides of the new 5K iMac and try to DIY. You can't build it yourself for that price. A Mac Pro is hard to build for the same cost too. (Source a real Xeon chip, they are not cheap)
