I went through a John Brunner phase after I first read Stand on Zanzibar in the late 70s. Shockwave Rider, The Jagged Orbit, and The Sheep Look Up, and a bunch of his shorter ones. What I love about his futures is that, rather than take one or two then current trends and extrapolate, he looked at everything going on.

Stephen King’s not-so-great Mr. Mercedes trilogy is worth a watch, if only for the ways it’s improved upon the source material.

Thor and Valkyrie road trip, with Jane Foster Thor along for the ride...

One thing I’m curious about: Do these guys still get paid for working on said projects?

Probably it depends on the deal, but usually I would think they must.  Although - Letterman once asked an actor (maybe Harrison Ford) who was getting big paychecks per movie:  “Do you just get a check?  Are you SURE you’re getting

I wouldn’t mind if it was titled “Quiet...2 Quiet...”

That movie has been made enough. That and Spiderman, c’mon, Hollywood

Anyone who hasn’t seen “To Be Or Not To Be” needs to drop what they’re doing right now and watch it

Michael Crichton’s Rising Sun (1992) was a particularly not good book, but one of its alarmed-by-technology rants predicted that digital photography would get so good that soon it wouldn’t be admissible as evidence in court. (Or at least not sole evidence, without things like witness and forensic backups.) I think

Pitt was so, so good in Snatch. I don’t know where he learned it or how long it took him, but that ridiculous accent of his?  According to someone I know who lived in Ireland for years, that was authentic as hell. [And I liked it even before I heard that.]

Got away Scott free, must have been a polar bear./Great reference, wrong pole.

It’s obvious that the bears have developed a human level intelligence and are waging a war against humanity in order to enslave us.

The airborne delivered bear commando program was suspended by the CIA in ‘15; I call bullshit.

So what’s the line? You can’t be racist unless you say racist things to five people? Seven? Fifteen?

People voted for Trump counting on cruelty to non-whites being a feature. It was part of his platform

Don’t forget that Takei is also a bigot himself, given that he called Clarence Thomas a “clown in blackface.”

In Seven -

Years back, when the then-new Springsteen album came out (it was probably Born in the USA) a friend of mine said “It’s a Bruce album. More songs about cars and girls in the promised land” which didn’t stop him from buying it immediately, or from loving it.

The McPence and the Rosa Parks parks, and the “adding an openly gay character to a Disney movie” every time someone complains, all made me smile.

Oh, then it’s the day to re-pitch my gritty reboot of That Darn Cat.

I will be even more eager to see this movie if someone can assure me that at some point in the movie, Cage will yell “Die, Monster, die!”
