Since many countries tax on engine displacement and emissions I see why Mercedes would do this if this rumor is true. Many countries are also phasing out conventional gas and diesel powered cars so if Mercedes wants to be able to sell AMG cars in these markets it makes sense. The Porsche 919 Hybrid that one the 24

If the tax revenue is put into publicly funded renewable energy powered high-speed rail, intercity passenger rail, and night trains I would be for the tax.  Flying should really only be used for international travel and for 3000 mile cross-country trips.

Infiniti’s line-up is outdated, and is not a better value compared to competitor cars. The G35 and G37 were competent cars but man the Q50/Q60 have been big disappointments. They just seem so half baked. With rise of Tesla as a competitor and BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Lexus filling pretty much every niche part of

BMW’s SAV sales are fine and overall sales were up slightly in 2018 compared to 2017.  It is not good that 3 series sales are down, but if customers are staying in the brand and just buying SAVs instead that is not a bad thing for BMW. http://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales-data/bmw/

I agree.  I never understood why American car enthusiasts obsessed over diesel engines.  The only ones that were okay to drive at least in a larger vehicle are the six cylinder ones.  The four cylinder ones all feel gutless and out of breath after 3000 rpm.  I see why Japan and Korea went the hybrid route.  In the end

I does the the diesel CX-5 feel compared to a RAV-4 Hybrid? It seems like the Rav-4 would be a better buy tbh.

The Lexus RC is extremely heavy and so is the LC.  The Z4's platform made sense in this situation for a performance car especially if they were aiming at the Cayman.

Yup you are correct. They pretend that something horribly outdated is some how superior to much newer technology that is superior in every way. Coal is being phased out in basically in any other country because it is dirtier than renewable energy and even dirtier than natural gas.  Yet Trump wants to protect it to

That is a crock of crap to even suggest that heavier dirty cars would lead to less death. Do you not consider how many people that die from pollution a year? If we mandated frontal collision warning and adaptive cruise control on new production cars, we could lower the amount deaths including for pedestrians and

I am hoping with all these most recent Elon Musk failures that people stop taking him seriously related to public transit, intercity travel, and urban planning. At the end of the day Amtrak loses much less money than Tesla even though it is required to provide service to rural areas that do not generate much

BRZ and GT86 sales are down and Hyundai killed off the Genesis Coupe. Unfortunately  that might have been a business savvy decision for them with the sports coupe market shrinking.

Porsche had financial issues on and off in the 80s and 90s. That is one of reasons the Cayenne was developed to diversify their line-up.

I just remember people bragging about how diesel cars were better than hybrids yet hybrids at the end of the day still get better city mileage and highway mileage, while not having to cheat emissions and shoot out a bunch of toxic nitrogen oxide emissions. It is pretty obvious that the German carmakers backed the

Semi and fully autonomous trains already exist and are much easier to electrify using overhead wire. Why waste are time with inefficient long distance trucking?

If they needed an Automated People Mover they should have gone with a legit company like Mitsubishi or Bombardier. Why they would go with Elon Musk and the Boring Company is beyond me and they are getting what they deserve.

The Germans offer multiple sporty compact luxury vehicles that sell well.  Mazda is just a stagnant brand that cannot compete with the larger brands in the industry.

Wouldn’t a premium brand actually offer a high-power version of their compact cars? Mercedes is making an A35 and A45 AMG sedan, Audi has the S3, and RS3, and BMW will have a M235i Gran Coupe. The real excuse is that Mazda is so cash strapped they do not have the resources to develop it properly.

The type of vehicle Acura needed 10 years ago to compete against the E90 3 series and B8 A4. With luxury sedan sales declining because of crossovers and the Model 3 cutting into a huge chunk of the sales that remain. What market is left there for Acura?

How many crossovers or SUVs get the fuel economy and the low emissions of a Hyundai Ioniq? It is more than comfortable on long highway drives and was thousands cheaper than a crossover. Recession 2019 is about to hit and the SUV/Truck/crossover market is about to take a nose dive again. Honestly I wish we would
