This is literally like saying that law abiding citizens are too biased against criminals to be objective in a court room because of the fact that they are law abiding citizens.

Oh no! Because of his wife’s job he might have the implicit bias that rape is a bad thing! Maybe Harvey Weinstein or Brock Turner are available to preside, as a more impartial arbiter?

Their strategy was to find a way to get the judge to recuse himself. Whoever thought this would work is an idiot. Even if this judge stepped down, the next one is unlikely to look favourably on a rapist.

Y’know, it’s generally not a good idea to piss off your judge, and this really seemed unlikely to go their way. I can’t really imagine what their strategy is here.
