Box of Infants sounds like the worst Blue Apron delivery ever.

You’ve just made me buy Consider the Lobster, which I had no intention of doing tonight.

We’re in this situation with our 2011 Sportwagen TDI, which has been a great car otherwise.

Those are gorgeous, and we’ve looked, but they’re rare and a good 10k higher.

We love our TDI Sportwagen, but we’ll be taking this deal if it’s as currently described. The real difficulty will be finding anything as useful to replace it with.

It’s this. Cross the NRA, and you’re getting primaried, at least if you’re a Republican.

This is a harrowing, tremendous piece. I think we are behind talking about and understanding traumatic brain injury across the board. I hopes the article gets picked up and recognized beyond the blogosphere.

Sounds like Americans DO recognize the utility of a hatchback, but don’t feel secure enough driving one unless they are convinced it is some kind of burly “truck.” For what are “crossovers” but chubby hatchbacks?

When it was announced Daewoo was going out of business, a local dealership here in Orlando put out a “Buy one get one” offer on these. Never saw anything like that before or since. And even the price for the one was only $5-7k if I remember correctly. So two brand-new cars for something like $3k each. In 1999.

It is a good looking car, if you can make yourself unsee the two-door Porsche your brain expects when you first look at it. It’s not a fat, lumpy 911; it’s a sleek (okay still a little butt-heavy, but not bad) four-door fastbacky thing.

We’re going through this analysis now, and there really isn’t anything that will match our Sportwagen for mileage, utility and driving dynamics. The closest I can see is a 3-series diesel wagon, but they’re far more expensive and reviews of the diesel motor make it sound like a clattery bore compared to the TDI,

Pretty sure VW will require you show purchase before the news broke to participate in the buyback. I think that’s the way the prior VW gift card situation worked.

Fish-fails?

Well that’s disappointing. A $35k car — a segment full of people who only have one car per person — ought to prioritize the most useful possible cargo space above “really pretty roof.”

Edit: Looks like he nailed the people in the truck he pulled over, which had been blocking traffic to “rocord” the bikers.

I understood MacGregor got to pick his replacement opponent. If so, he was either truly fearless picking a Diaz brother, or misjudged badly. They’re both nearly indestructible, and Nate is a phenomenally talented jiu-jitsu guy, which is Mac’s weaker area.

I’d love to see the return of a decently sporty Civic hatch, and I don’t think this looks any more overwrought than the Type R previews. The front at least is okay. And four doors? Very interesting. Might have to put off the GTI I’ve been contemplating to see if Honda can recreate the old magic.

Perhaps little-known fact: WDW’s Jungle Cruise boats all ran for years on Chevy Chevette engines running on Compressed Natural Gas. They rarely suffered engine problems.
