I’m a “government employee” (local). Most of my adult career was in the private sector before I changed, and I’m not lying- I work way harder now than when I was private. Just got back from dinner saying this exactly to a friend of mine I was catching up with.

No doubt about that at all, having worked for a health insurance company. And having one decide, after the fact, that a test done on me was “medically unnecessary” and thus not worthy of them paying for it.

Same with health care and “death panels.” We already have, but it’s not “the government.”
