I loved my solid metal hand crank moon roof, that I could go from 0-75 in third gear if I dumbed the clutch and that it would run with the battery removed if it was started first. (I did not have jumper cables so I just borrowed the battery from my roomate’s cimmeron.

My kid’s soul has been the rugby team taxi/sober cab for 8 years. The do hold a ton and are fun to dive in a way that reminds me of my old vw rabbit. 

If it were not for the inevitable costly repair and maintenance this would be a fun rig to try to overland with, with a bit of a lift, lots of protection and better tires. (just dreaming).
