I wouldn’t be screwed too badly, but then again, I’m an old fucker.

More mechanic tales of woe.

I guess I feel differently than the mechanic in this story. If I blow off your wheel studs, I simply replace them. They aren’t expensive, nor are they hard to do. Here’s about what would come of it -

“Yeah, I wrung off a couple of wheel studs....who knows what the deal was.  Last guy

That completely sucks. Hell, I had a Hyundai Elantra in here today for a water pump and a timing belt. I noticed his headlights were foggy too. Did I call him? No.

I decided I could use a minute sitting down, and I grabbed a drill, a pad, and some polish and cleared them up. No extra charge!

And I get that some people

That’s what we do here!  No games, no bullshit, just cars fixed the right way.

Milton Automotive and Diagnostics, in Milton, KS. You can find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MiltonAutomotive, or on the web at miltonauto.square.site.

You’re talking to the chief, cook, and bottle washer, LOL.

You’re welcome! I made the decision a long time ago that people will come to me for quality, and correct work at a fair price. Granted, as a shop owner, I can tell you that the name of the game is to sell. But at the same time, if you are good to your clientele, you don’t have to rip every single client a new one by

I will agree with this. In fact, if I ever come across a real clean Mercury Tracer LTS with the stick, I’ll scoop it up in a heartbeat. What a great little car to scoot around town in!

I won’t price something to the moon that I don’t want to do. I will simply tell my customer, this is a job I don’t feel comfortable doing due to whatever reason (tin worm, excessive labor costs for the issue, etc) and so far, no one has gotten pissed.

This is the kind of article that scares me. Know why? Because I own a shop!

Frankly, it’s all these shenanigans that make guys like me look bad. Now, I will tell people if something is ready to break. I will tell them, hey, this is about ready to let go, and I will SHOW them why and how it is. Other things, I will

Now THAT was informative, and helpful.

Truth be told, while I am a professional auto mechanic, my specialty is naturally gasoline vehicles out here in farm country. I have bare, basic knowledge of electric cars, and less so, the power requirements of the charge units. (Before you get fired up again, NO, there are no electric cars out here - about as

Different take, valid though it may be!

Boomerific?

I’m not following you on that one......

You’re right on this, I do need to call my representatives that never answer phones or emails.

Dude, we have DSL for the fastest internet out here.  Tell me about an EV charging station again. Instead of being a dickhead about shit, stop and consider the real lack of infrastructure in ANY area (not just mine) that is

I moved up here from Texas! HAHAHAHAAHAH! Of course, I lived near Houston, largely considered the asshole of Texas, with humidity factors to match.

I miss the food, but I don’t miss the sweltering heat, and the traffic.  Otherwise, I’ve got nothing bad on Texas.

I assure you, I am not a troll account. Feel free to look back through my history.

Just because our viewpoints don’t coincide to your preferences doesn’t automatically make me a troll. It also shows that you’re pretty closed minded about these things. If I was a troll, would be as forthcoming as I am about my

God, you guys don’t read so good, do you?

Of course I have electricity. However, you missed that infrastructure part. Below is Electrify America’s charger map for my area. I live, roughly, in the center of the map.  Would you have a gasoline car if the only gasoline was at your house, and at a friend’s place way the hell away from you?

Ah, yes, thank you for jumping to conclusions about how I have my mind up. Apparently you glossed over a few key items, such as someone showing me a study, which you did, but it was only one, and it was biased towards electric vehicles in general. How about something UNBIASED?

Yes, let’s discuss how we’re killing the planet.

Until someone can come up with a study that shows how my F-150 is hurting the planet more than battery production and disposal, I’m calling bullshit.
