There’s a difference between a lift and a ‘bro lift’. This looks more like the former to me - not very different to what you would’ve seen in the period and not obnoxious.

Mexico seems like a great place.

Train robbers in Veracruz came up with a new way yesterday of halting a freight train to steal its contents. They pulled up part of the track.

Hey, you want to build cars in Mexico, you take the bad with the good.

Its like he got all of his information from the Top Gear Big Rig episode where Jeremy describes trucker life

Yeah, my own wild guess would be less Robin Hood than a town full of poor people, como siempre, that now has a wealthy gang throwing down enough spare change (and maybe enough threats) to buy their silence.

I mean that’s a REALLY conservative “bro-lift” if it even qualifies at all.

We need more of this.

Stop paying long haul truckers by the mile, first of all. They go through training that repeatedly tells them to drive to conditions, but then they get a job that requires they hit a certain mileage each day to keep a consistent paycheck. This is a system which encourages dangerous, aberrant behavior in a 72,000 lb

Remember the commercials about going to school to become a long haul trucker? They used to play during the day for people they knew we not working. Those commercials have been replaced by the ambulance chaser lawyer commercials where they ask if you fell on someone’s property.

“Communities argue that the rich are getting richer and poor poorer,” Schtulmann told the news outlet, “so it’s social justice.”

Right. Once again, let’s blame people with more money for your actions. Kill a guy because he had more money than you? Oh ok, charges dismissed; It’s their fault for being rich.

So, reduce the number of applicants still further?

My guess is that 20 years from now, autonomous hauling (and autonomous vehicles in general) will still be seemingly right around the corner.

Trucker shortage? The newer generations can’t leave the weed alone and get/keep a CDL.

I’d suggest the cash purchases aren’t price sensitive, as that would be a higher income individual.

I’m pretty sure 100% of what you said was either irrelevant, ignorant, outright stupid, or some combination of the three.

A trucker shortage is the free market telling trucking companies that they aren’t offering enough. Better wages and more forgiving routes and deadlines would do wonders for the industry. Of course, that’s going to fall back onto other industries and ultimately consumers, but we either pay enough to ship our shit, or

WTF

None of that is going to address the issues of low driver pay, long hours and few benefits. In fact, all of that will probably thin the number of qualifying truck drivers even more.

A shortage of drivers can also cause rates to go up.
