This seems like great design and one that would allow for much higher rpms and less parasitic power loss compared to compressing springs. Id also be curious to see if a pushrod version of this design could be created to reduce the amount of space it requires. That cam setup looks like it would not be compact

‘Dated tech’, ehh? The poppet valve is older than the united states. The first OHC cars were built over 100 years ago. The crankshaft has ancestor mechanisms that stretch back to the Han dynasty. There isn’t any non-dated tech Ducati can turn to if it wants to drop the comparatively ‘new’ desmodromic valves.

IDK, the one time I drove a new F150 Raptor, it was a ton of fun. 450hp in a massive truck that floats over everything is fun.
