What does maintenance have to do with the question? There are a lot of enthusiast and potential future collectible cars that you can literally buy and drive as is... for not a lot of money or repair costs.

And the air suspension option also meant you got an on-board air compressor! Mine had a hose so you could fill up the tires anywhere you were!

All good observations. The issue here is weight. Airbags and their support systems are added weight that would require more power to move the airframe.
