I’m in the same boat.  Occasionally I wish I had a differential, or about 15-20 more hp but even in spirited driving on roads there is not much given up.

Honestly this generation loses some of the value. The previous generation hatches all had the 1.5 turbo and my sport hatch was around 20-21 k MSRP.  The sport was the highest level with the 6 speed other than the Si and type R.  At the current price structure I probably would buy a Kia hatch with the turbo instead.

False, I have both a 4wd pickup, an outback and a Civic.  In a couple inches of about the Subaru does a little better than the Civic getting going but other than that the Civic is easier to control.  Anything deeper and my pickup does a lot better, you just have to exercise throttle control
