I got a poster of that as a prize from a school fundraiser, my grandpa took me to the Chrysler dealer to see one in person and I watched the show religiously. The car made me a Mopar guy, today I wouldn’t want to be seen in one but damn I loved that growing up. I guess 10 year old me thought V8s were for peasants.
I have seen the same thing up in Montana, adds similar to this on cars both stock and modded in this price range that are listed for months and not selling.
I want the Omni Hellcat myself.
And like any car off it’s type, people will complain it’s not enough power, some tuning company will announce it’s created a 900hp version and electric car enthusiasts will make a video of an amateur racing a Tesla and losing because it’s a rediculous amount of power for a rwd car. Then the SRT Demoner comes out and…
No, runs like a top, up to date on all maintenance. I have a few friends with them and they get similar mileage. I can squeeze 20 out of it based on fill up, not the trip computer but thats in the summer on flat roads
Probably the same reason we still call Civics compact, in spite of the fact that they are bigger than accords used to be.
That is still better combined than my 12 year old Ram gets in Highway mileage
You know these held up better than people give them credit. My buddy beat a turbo Lancer for years and 200k miles and another replaced an Aries with a Taurus and immediately regretted it. I wont argue they were appreciably good cars, but every now and then I see a turbo K car running around.
I’m not advocating that they are the right choice for everyone. As you mentioned in most scenarios they are less effective however on black ice they seem fairly effective. Your not invincible, but it can be the difference between a crash and a close call. http://www.skstuds.ca/2015/10/04/the-studless-tire-deception-ice…
You must never get black ice. The snow isn’t what the studs are for, it’s when a perfectly clear looking stretch of highway is a solid sheet of ice that the studs help. I would say that perhaps because your area doesn’t need them doesn’t mean places further north or people who live close to lakes in the winter might…
Honestly, it’s an old military truck, someone has to collect these and for its age it seems to be in good shape. iwill give it a why the hell not NP
There are a few wheels that look good on a wide range of cars like that, The American Racing Torque Thrust or Rota RB wheels are two of my favorites.
I agree, but the Mark is set incredibly low.
I saw at least one pull into a gas station on fire, I think that’s how my friends ended it’s life, caught fire and he just walked home and left it there.
You are right, those cars were death traps when new. My brother in law had one that lost a transmission under 50k miles into service. My best friend had one and he had nightmares that it was going to kill him. The thing wallowed around like a floppy fish and made my 91 Blazer feel like it had good road manners. Every…
To be honest I’m one of those curmudgeons who likes control. With the limited slip rear and transfer case I can rotate the truck with the throttle if I overcook a corner. In my wife’s Subaru I can feel the braking stuff the car is doing to try and go where I point it and any throttle input seems to just show me down.…
Or just get a real 4wd with a locking transfer case and go through deep snow like the big boys. My 4x4 ram with AT tires handles snow like a champ my wife’s outback struggles through.
The Viper V10 had an aluminum block. They are lighter than a lot of V8s that some people have swapped into wrangler/CJs.
There is a lot of Truth to this. Had a fiesta that was a fun autocross car, rotated very well and carried a lot of speed through the corners. It took a careful setup, but a lot of rwd sportscars ran slowed laps.
