Are they calling women “holes”?

James Bond comes saddled with a lot of exhausting baggage that I honestly wouldn’t wish on any actor. It’s a great character, of course, but there’s something airless and asphyxiating in the colossal weight of public judgement about it. It’s less a role and more a vast, churning, life-annihilating hurricane.

I have no problem with this. Bond is a cipher and a thankless role. Please keep writing him meaty and complex original roles, Hollywood/London. Either that or cast him in Othello across from Sophie Okonedo and Peter Capaldi and make my dreams come true.

It would be so easy to make this guy melt down on camera. Send a smart woman to interview him and give her instructions to poke him on any duplicitous answer. Start a couple questions with “As a woman, I’d like to ask you...”

There’s nothing more glaring in an interview than when the subject gets defensive and obfuscates because they know that answering a simple question truthfully will make them look bad. This is going to be good.
