As a reference, it was longer from the start of WWII to 1983, than from 1983 to now.  I guess what I’m saying is, took em long enough. Even in 1983.

That escalated quickly. Granted, nuke it from orbit is essentially my plan (flatten and rebuild garage as part of house remodel).

I know you mean about running down protesters, but also applicable to: “Black Lives Matter protesters had shut down the interstate for nearly three weeks at that point.” Really? The interstate has been shut down for 3 weeks?

That’s “DC” unless you want to drag a cord behind your tank.  Now carry on.

Honestly, the only model Porsche I’ve wanted was that very one ever since Mulder drove it in anger.

There’s 2-3 guys who park in my building’s parking lot that have Raptors. Those things are enormous. And I drive a Sequoia...

I don’t generally follow professional sports, but it may not be a great sign that my first response to reading “professional women’s softball teams” was “Since when are there professional softball teams?”

One of the terms of settlement of the War of 1812 was that the US had to be nice to Canada after they burned our capitol. However, we won the Mexican-American War, so screw Mexico. Read more

I do. Because it would be for weekend off-roading, not daily driving and cross-country travel. It’s weird to me that people don’t get that different cars can have different purposes.

I had to chuckle at: “to get a $55,000 Ram truck for $44,000.” That’s the glass half full opinion. The converse is that people have been suckered into buying a $44,000 Ram truck for $55,000. Something’s worth is only what a buyer is willing to pay. How’s it feel to have instantly lost $11k on your truck purchase?! Read more

I see your point, but it’s really not how many I was going to send - the conversation is more like this: Colleague: I’m considering getting a [brand of car]. Me: Don’t go to [dealership], they’re dirtbags. Go to any of other 3 or 4 dealerships for [brand of car] in the area instead. I realize I can just say whatever I Read more

In this case, the person I was dealing with was one of the co-owners. His surname is part of the dealership name. I doubt he’s going anywhere, but your point stands.

Yup. I’ve had car dealers try to pull this.  I walked away when the were mid-sentence.  They followed me still yammering as I got in my car and drove away.  I will never give these guys any business and will bad mouth them as long and loudly as possible.

I had about the same year (87) Nissan. It drove forever (sold it used with about 270,000 on the clock), but it sucked as a DD. No power steering, 2WD. Also, it was $7,000 new. I imagine this Toyota was about the same. That’s basically 0 depreciation over nearly 4 decades. Nuts.  CP all day.  Get a two decade newer Read more
