Wasn’t Commander Benjamin Lafayette Sisko the first non-Captain lead of a Star Trek series, which premiered 24 years before Discovery? Assuming Discovery premieres in this calendar year.

I particularly hate how there is a special “Staff” tab used to hide the other comments when the author feels like it. Makes it even longer to reach the actual discussions.

It seems like everyone forgets Star Trek Deep Space Nine, which actually was the first ST series with a non-captain lead (Commander Ben Sisko, until his much later promotion).

I typically upvote (star, whatever) most comments that respond to me or are gray users I recognize, but I do try to avoid approving the gray commenters who call me a shithead asshole cuckstick, of which there are a surprisingly large number of.

I liked him as a villain you love to hate. Or at least a schemer who is entertaining in the way he skeeves everyone out. Happy for his downfall, but I really liked the performance, odd accent and all.

The male characters on this show get so much fucking slack, whereas the only female character allowed to have flaws is Arya, and only because she’s strong in a masculine way.

A second for the culture series, along with his standalone novels. Against a Dark Background, Feersum Endjinn, and The Algebraist.

Considering Michael K. Williams left because of scheduling, no, we don’t need to talk about it.
