I remember the sign in my college's Psychology dept "Have a backup career plan". And I've been in IT ever since graduation *sigh*.

Not completely. I want a lot more food than I need.

That's fine, as long as your wants aren't food; getting something broken fixed; shelter;etc.

Ha, I still have two XP machines. I'm sticking with Win 7 until they drag me kicking and screaming. Doesn't Microsoft only get every other OS right?

I want to like this, I really do. but it just screams hack me.

What about the 4K format war? Doesn't it make sense to wait.

I appreciate the article, but this technology still seems like it is in the dark ages.

Don't do it! Take your time and enjoy a series.

Ugh. Seriously. Go to the hardware store or online, get a cheap smoke detector for $25. The biggest problem most people have is forgetting to change the battery. Its more important to get smoke detectors everywhere first before getting them internet connected. It isn't a joking matter either.

But the "horsepower" required. Some of these services don't need much. But when you are trying to say stream video, the CPU becomes a big factor.

No I have a black thumb too. I just question the value of getting all that data when you don't what to do with it. What good is it know about ambient light or heat if you don't know enough about what the plant needs.

Sure it looks neat, but Why do you need all that tech? There are much simpler ways to make sure a plant stays watered. Keeping a plant alive is more about reading directions.

I'm not being snarky here. this is a depressing exercise. I can't see my happy money number being a practical one.

the cost really depends where you live. for me it is more like $250k or more. Even public schools cost money, and health costs add up. Thank goodness Pennsylvania has good health care options.

hahaha. what a euphemism. I like empowerment and all, but many kinds of pressure are negative. When you are struggling to make it through, yes it is a growth opportunity, but it takes a toll in other ways.

just remember not to be cheap w/ tips while you are saving. the wait staff are still working hard regardless.

I agree with this sentiment of empowerment. But how does this stand with people who get crap handed out to them through no fault of their own? sometimes I like this statement. but try telling this to a starving child in a 3rd world country and see how far you get.

You mean Virginia isn't everywhere? :)

Thank you. If I'm going to clean up for cleaners, might as well just clean up myself.

Thats insane. A for-profit thrift store that collects donations? ick.
