haha. Time off is the tricky part, isn't it? It seems to be mutually exclusive with money.

and thank you for doing that. I'm all for making meetings actually useful.

This is good advice just in general for any kind of discussion you are going to have where actual important information will be exchanged.

In the end, I care about money. That's it. It's important to work on a good team, have a good goal and smart management. But casual or dress, I could care less.

That's not a complete measure of success — even if these are 1, you've definitely made a good start

I'd never ever ditch Maps and GPS. It may not increase my navigational IQ, but it has bailed me out enough times to be more than worth it.

this brings up a thought for me. I don't think you should have your computer on your workbench. Its one thing if you are writer. But if you are a carpenter, a hobbyist, or someone whose primary hobby/occupation does not involve a PC other than for some research, move it elsewhere. Seems like too much of a

yikes. definitely a bad situation. there's no winning there.

Lie #4 is my favorite. Heck most to do lists have a due date. The biggest problem is that not everything can or should be done in a day.

you should have doc'd that and had a talk with HR. that is horrible.

that is definitely is low-class. wow. sorry to hear it.

I have considered the fact that I may be a doormat, but feel like many company cultures celebrate those who work the late hours, interrupt

I'm salaried. There is no billing :)

No offense, but try that a) as a salaried person and b) at a current company. Yes it is legal what you are doing, but you won't make any friends.

Also, I think you have to qualify vacation. There is partially plugged vacation, and then complete unplugged vacation. And everbody needs at least a little bit of the latter. You just have to make good arrangements for people to cover you. No one is that indispensable.

haha, good luck with that.

that's annoying though. Yahoo has no task management that I'm aware of. Destroying a perfectly good one is frustrating.

I know it makes it more expensive, but really, all power equipment should have an electric starter. That was one of my biggest deciding factors when picking my snowblower — the ability to plug it in the wall and then press a button to start it.
