Excellent explanation.

Just how much $ does Uber have to be able to consistently settling?

I see myself more likely to own the previous generations than the current and newest. Visually, the former has that nice balance of practical street car + rugged ute. The latter just don’t interest me at all.

This should be a wake-up call for Musk to reign in his overpromising ways and get real. He himself have admitted/attributed past mistakes to hubris. It’s time to take another good hard look in the mirror... and actually do something about it. The recently passed ginormous performance-based reward package, though

If you don’t get it, it’s not meant for you. Doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

Ok, $999,999.99 then.

What you keep insisting is qualitative. What I’ve been saying is about marketing, brand and product positioning. You know, business plan?? The two are not the same. MSRP set by GM/Cadillac isn’t based on opinion. It’s based on all of the attributes I mentioned.

No one? the OP expected average price for a non-average brand. You can’t even follow the origin of the discussion accurately.

Hmm... a milk stout with some salty fries to go along with it. That sounds good.

And this is precisely why there will probably never be another Mazdaspeed as the brand seeks to move up-market (and greater profit margins). The people they want to go after, the folks with good credit and buying power, are not boy racers.

This is just VW trying to “figure out” America. I can just see the execs musing, “What do Americans like? Big ass trucks. Let’s show them a big ass truck in concept just to stay relevant... and so they can forget about the cheating business for a moment. Perfekt.”

Prius driver?

Eh, that would make the interior exceedingly busy, thus counter to [part of] the reason you like it to begin with, why the design works as is, and the intent of the designer.

However you want to spin it. Cadillac sees itself as a luxury brand. Even as a near-lux, it still isn’t in the “average” car category, thus the above-average cost. And, that, IS reality.

Whether you agree with it or not (subjective) Cadillac is positioned as a luxury brand within the GM family of brands (fact).

Less expensive in base trim. In higher trim the XC40 is pretty damn expensive.

At this price point, why would any one expect otherwise?? It’s a given. Even the smaller Jeeps are front biased.

As cool as that looks for sake of being different—and being somewhat OCD—that carpet would drive me bonkers in actual use. Have you seen a dirty orange couch?

It’s an entry-level offering from a LUXURY brand, thus demanding an ABOVE AVERAGE cost. Not a difficult notion to understand.

Hm. That dash design is very unfortunate.
