I remember reading interviews with Eno at the time — claiming he'd created a new genre of music he dubbed "drop" — and it really seemed like he sensed the direction of electronic music shifting away from him; so-called electronica was moving away from thoughtful intellectualism as chin stroking postrockers picked up

I grew up in Seattle and all the kids at the roller rink called it a "graveyard".

I think "James sucks" is an unfortunate meme. He's portrayed exactly as he should be — an innocent, good looking, kinda dopey, "bad boy". Like Laura herself said, "I love him but he's SO DUMB." James being "cool" makes sense within the world of the show.

Audrey is a possibility, but she'd have to have become independently wealthy somehow; the Horne's businesses have them well off but not that rich. Still, it seems like she'd have a lot of motivation to find her special agent.

"Yes, this takes places in Washington."

There was speculation before the episode aired that he looked like Leo & Shelly's kid (which is not what happened).

First time he showed up, I thought it was Trent Reznor (who is apparently in this somewhere).

I believe that was actually Lynch's voice singing, not James.

Bobby looks even better now; that man is just handsome as hell. He looks like a man now instead of a boy, and that white hair looks amazing on him. When he saw Laura's picture in episode three, I cried with him. I'm really happy with where his character appears to be now.

Fuck yes, you got it. Lynch is a true artist and auteur filmmaker who will reverberate throughout culture for a long time.

We don't have Michael J Anderson because he publicly accused Lynch of being a pedophile, rapist, and murderer. The dude has totally gone off the deep end. :(((

Ahh, good old Alanis-style irony.

There's a long tradition in culture of upper to middle class urbanites romanticizing the lifestyle of the working poor, and vice versa. This is how denim jeans became acceptable and ubiquitous among people who weren't laborers, and explains part of Donald Trump's appeal.

I mean, the show actually lampshaded the fact that they had two different actresses — I can't recall if they were in the same episode together, but I remember when OG Becky showed back up, Roseanne said something like "Oh Becky, you were out in the garage for a really long time".

Whatever those poor costumed emoji dancers were paid, it was not enough.

People are fallible, contain multitudes, etc. He never claimed to be a model human — his body of dramatic work will always stand as one of the greatest.

Do you feel like Lorne Michael's role in the actual quality of the show is overstated?

It'll do at least as well as the Aeon Flux film.

“Are you some kind of Holden Caulfield suburban tragedy?”

Wow, I'm impressed by how much condescension you were able fit in your comment. Kids are nothing if not savvy media consumers; they know what rock is, and it still informs a huge majority of music and art. I worked at an instrument shop for five years and heard the opening bars of Come As You Are mangled more times
