I have a PHEV on order, and never considered the Atlas. If I were buying in that class I would go with a Honda or Mazda.

The V6 Touareg started around $40k, the SEL Atlas starts there as well. Not quite as large of a price difference as it first appears. I actually looked at a Touareg TDI in 2015, it was $52k, fully loaded, so a $12k difference between that and the SEL Atlas.
Why didn’t they bring back the Touareg instead?
I doubt most Americans will ever change their habits. I have a PHEV on order, put in the build last month, won’t have it until August (at the earliest). Most people don’t plan that far out for a vehicle, or just plain cannot wait that long.
I wish I could say I was shocked that you get such awful hate mail, but nothing really surprises me anymore. I have enjoyed the 2 videos of you reading some of the mail though, very funny. Also, the mom in me is worried about Kristen’s eye...
A new E63S wagon is one of my backup vehicles to the Cayenne E Hybrid I have on order (both are around $115k). Buying one new isn’t that bad if you have a paid off trade in, and money to put down. I would be looking at payments around $900-$1000 per month. It seems as though a lot of people are looking only at a $0…
Are you running that assuming $0 down? I highly doubt anyone buying a $90k vehicle has nothing for a down payment.
Only if you aren’t putting any money down on it at all. At the very least, if you are looking at $90k vehicles, you should have a paid off trade in worth a decent amount. One last thing to keep in mind, $90k is a Yukon Denali or Escalade, and there are a lot of those driving around...
The thing that is never mentioned when lamenting manuals eventual extinction is that most of them were terrible. They weren’t more fun to drive, and once automatics became less of an option and more of the default, most people were happy. So while sports cars losing them is a big deal, most other vehicles are just…
I’m not sure that the people in the market for an Escalade are shopping this against the MB or BMW (both of which are much smaller). They want American luxury and maybe look at a Navigator or a Yukon Denali and then go with the Cadillac because that is what they think rich Americans should do (oh, and their Daddy and…
No, outside of routine maintenance that is all I have had. The trim issue caused some air noise when driving, was adjusted and went away (and honestly didn’t affect anything other than the slight air noise). The seat mat sensor was annoying, but once it was fixed there haven’t been any other problems. I have had 2…
I have no problems with roundabouts, however I have seen people do crazy things in them. I wonder how well they would work somewhere that has to plow a lot of snow in the winter though, seems as though that could cause some issues.
I think most people that have issues are either a second (third, forth, etc) owner, or they didn’t bother to break in their vehicle according to the owner’s manual. On my third BMW, fifth overall German vehicle and have had zero issues, outside of some trim pieces and a seat mat sensor going out. If taken care of…
NP depends on how much it costs to register a Canadian vehicle in the US. Otherwise, on the currency exchange it is a decent price.
Neutral: Current car is a BMW G01 X3 M40i, previous was a ‘17 Audi S6, F15 X5 and a F25 X3. I am going to Porsche because the Cayenne E Hybrid is fun to drive and the electric only range fits my needs, plus as a PHEV I will never have range anxiety. I did consider the Panamera Sport Turismo E Hybrid, but it is $17k…
Neutral: I have a PHEV on order, although my allocation doesn’t come up until June. Looking forward to the change and also not having to worry about range anxiety.
Congrats on the new job, but you will be missed here. Always nice to be able to read articles from a woman, since there seem to be few of us out there into cars, and we need more representation. Will be watching for you over on BI.
You can send her to Cedar Park, we have an IHOP, but if you went there instead of Blue Corn Harvest that is right next door I may have to question your sanity.
Pulling through is fine. I’ve never encountered someone else trying to access the spot I am pulling through to before, and that is in 25 years of driving, but if I did, I would back into the spot that was at the lane I came from. What I hate is all the huge extended cab or dually pickups that park with over half of…
My X3 M40i can do a pretty good job of carving a canyon... It also gets 56% better mileage than my sedan did (Audi S6).
