OH MY GOD. I saw this circulating on the internets yesterday but didn’t have time to watch...until this morning, when I watched it like 10 times and then made all of my 1st period students watch it too, as this is the perfect time to watch a sassy-diva-in-the-making coach her fellow dancers and hear her daddy going Read more

While I can’t relate to having a mother who was competitive with me, I can relate to bringing dragged into family dysfunction time and again over the years...until I just stopped interacting with them. I realize that’s easier said than done for some; for me, it took a move of 3,000 miles, and even then, one of them Read more

Yes! I agree wholeheartedly with this assessment. Teaching is tough enough; students who write anonymous complaints on websites like these are more than likely ones I wouldn't want in my classroom anyway.

I only remember the song - "Freebird" which went on for days - and the photo taken of me with my diploma afterwards. I also remember thinking, "This is taking too long", but I have no memory of actually being on stage or being handed my diploma. I graduated in 1984. Yikes.

Oh, honey, that's horrible. I am so very sorry for your loss. It's always hard making that decision; making it when you had no inkling it was coming must have been a real shock.

This guy has "bully" written all of him. In my personal experience, calling a bully on his shit makes him backtrack, and fast. I know it can be hard to do that, but I'd encourage you to ask him why he feels the need to watch your every move. Maybe he has the hots for you and is stuck in middle school? I dunno. I just Read more

In my experience, anticipation is almost always worse than the reality, so I always try to remind myself of that and "stay where my feet are". I applaud your strength and determination to take care of yourself.

Please don't be ashamed to take assistance; that's what it's there for. I have a dear friend who is 65, has a Master's degree, no car, barely makes any money at all and is on food stamps. It's OK. That's what they're there for.

I have always rescued my critters and these two are no exception. The pooch, named Gizmo by his former owner, was posted on Craigslist for free. He was supposedly papered, although I don't care about that stuff and never did see them. My guess is he was bought from a local pet store several years prior. She had

I have a friend who is about as self-involved as they come and I used to tolerate her abuse. I don't anymore. We're still friends but that's thanks to me working consistently on developing boundaries that she is now plenty aware of. She no longer even tries to go there with me because she knows I'll shut it down. Read more

I can not tune out extraneous noise, especially people who talk loudly or make random noises. I work with people who do all of those things. No matter how often I ask, the noise still happens. When I'm tired, which is often these days, it's harder and my temper can flare. I take more and more bathroom breaks (only Read more

I feel you, I really do. I'm approaching the end of my 40's. Two years ago I lost half my hair. It was a complete shock and have been busy trying to find fixes myself. Read more
