Except Google doesn't have a monopoly in web search, nor anywhere else probably. There are plenty alternatives which provide decent web search as well and they are just as accessable. Also there aren't any OEMs or so locking you into google search, though they often do make it even easier to use google search by

One thing you might see when observing your surroundings is someone who is looking at his screen. Simultaneously he is waiting for the bus but he misses the bus because he can't stop looking at his screen.

I encountered something similar on my laptop 5-10 years ago on my old laptop. First thing I did was download AVG to remove the virus which was impersonating some antivirus app I'd never heard of and I'd certainly not installed myself. If an antivirus pops up which you have not installed it is definitely a virus,

Both of those techniques where in a gizmodo post earlier today (or yesterday I don't exactly remember when it was). I don't really see why they now have an article on this product while they just showed us how to achieve the same result without any product.

Bad news for phone thieves: you won't be able to unlock that android phone you stole anymore. But then again you were already unable to unlock those of sensible people.

Actually I like the fact that you can buy MPs at the store. No need for a credit card or complicated payment method, I wish more services supported something similar (looking at you, Google Play).

Whenever I pick up the (landline) phone for someone who isn't home I leave them a handwritten note telling them to call back, though I guess this is easily replaceable with some digital alternative which works just as well. I cannot however miss handwriting for my college-related notes. They tend to be full of

One Chrome extension I can't live without is WOT. I know Chrome is pretty much inherently secure but that still doesn't protect me from unreliable/fake webshops and the like. Crowdsourced website reviews from Web Of Trust do. I know these reviews are not always reliable, but in general I find it very useful and it

Does this mean they estimate the battery charge instead of actually measuring it? If yes, how confident are they that their estimate is still accurate after a couple of months?

I understand schools would ask kids to turn off their phones and not put them in their storage lockers (assuming every kid has a storage locker at their school), but to ban phones (even the ones turned off) from the entire buildings seems plain ridiculous to me.

I totally agree. Firefox Mobile has an unmatched UI for browsing on a tablet, and is definitely my favorite browser for Android.

Maybe I would if I won the lottery... Until then, no thanks.

I did see it in that episode. I've also seen it on an Android game, but considering the Futurama transcript claims to originate from 2002 Futurama was probably first. Thanks!

You forgot they also have to reconfooble the energymotron.

Ok. My bad then.

Tell us something we didn't know.

I don't know exactly what this negative energy is because I only read about the hypothesis in the science pages of a newspaper aimed at the general public. I do however know from quantum mechanics that electrons in an atom usually occupy some negative energy level, though I don't think this negative binding energy is
