I was pretty young, too, but my parents were YOOOGE Skins fans, and we went to a total of like four games ever at RFK Stadium. Back then we used to scour the Post’s classifieds for aftermarket tickets to Skins games within our price range, and it genuinely felt like a miracle if we found some.

I knew it was all bullshit when I was easily able to get tickets to the recent (3 seasons ago?) Packers-Redskins playoff game.

I want to impress upon you just how unthinkable this kind of thing would’ve been as recently as, say, 1994, when the shit-ass Norv Turner-led Skins finished 3–13, and scoring affordable tickets for home games at grimy old RFK Stadium still felt like winning the lottery

Chris Evert’s opinion is completely irrelevant here.

What really cracks me up about the Serena defenders is that her opponent in this match was ALSO a WOC. So if Ramos really was racist or sexist, why wasn’t he calling “bogus” violations on Osaka as well?

No, but crying sexism or racism makes for good clickybait headlines.

No

I really like Serena. I wanted her to cap off her comeback from giving birth by winning this. But I just don’t get why it’s so impossible for any Deadspin writer to say this:

Fwiw, living in Tokyo, the coverage of Osaka has been nonstop, positive, and glowing.  People are going legitimately bonkers for her over here.

Poor Sally Jenkins was actually driven insane by this spectacle and wrote an astonishingly bad article that could have been avoided with just a small amount of research.

I have not enjoyed this controversy because I have ended up agreeing with a lot of unpleasant people.

Hey, I don’t know what’s the big deal here. Myles Garrett is an elite athlete playing in the NFL, which is supposed to be the premiere sports league in the US of A. If he can’t bend the laws of gravity to suit his needs during a play, then that is on him, not on the new rule.

“Wherever you happen to fall on Serena’s behavior Saturday night, I’m sure you agree with me that this is the umpire’s fault.”

A third option is that Williams was intentionally ratcheting up the situation in a fruitless attempt to heighten her own level of play and intensity, and to intimidate her young opponent, because those things have worked in the past. They didn’t work yesterday.

I’ve heard people say they want to be for Evangelicals in college sports what Notre Dame is for Catholics and BYU is for Mormons.

+1 light of christ

How could he tell it from his ass, though?

Jerry Falwell Jr., when asked, said, “Look we’re ride or die now with porn star payoffs, you think we give a shit if one of our kids Jack Tatum’s somebody?”

Aren’t followers of Christ a bit sensitive when it comes to spearing?

I get it. You’re smaller.  You were probably on the soccer team for most of high school.  You don’t practice open field tackles, but Jesus dude, at least try to use your arms.
