Fun fact: Classic Wonder Woman did NOT originally wear a skirt. She wore a pair of culottes, which may LOOK like a skirt, but are in fact a pair of shorts. In recent times, they are also worn by Rosa, the female Player Character from Pokémon Black 2/White 2.

Isn’t it the upside-down version of the pentagram that is associated with Satan? That’s how I have always understood it, from back in the Satanic Panic days.

Fuck the CCP

I think you just described West World.

My problem with The Boys is that the whole “what if superheroes were actually bad” theme is just done to death. It was old in the 40s, and it’s ancient and decrepit 80 years later. To tell this story, you’ve got to bring something new, and other than gore (snooze), this show doesn’t. It’s the same old tired plot.

Hey, that’s how I watched Schindler’s List!

For the full experience, while watching it have someone dump cold water on you and hit you with a rake.

The real walking dead were the friendships we betrayed along the way.

In what way does this world resemble the pre-Cats world?

User name checks out.

Mission critical systems are not the same as typical software/hardware development. Everyone now is so used to the whole “release and iterate” notion of development.

Fun fact. USB “thumb drives” are the least secure things in the world. They typically consist of a flash memory chip and a controller chip. The controller chip is a small computer that can be programmed to lie. About anything. It can lie about the capacity. It can lie about the data that is on the flash chip. It can

“Perform without looking.” That’s it.

Amazingly, Bernadette Peters has held up just as well in real life.

Apparently youths didn’t watch Mr Robot.

That Deadpool/Genie comparison is spot on. One thing that surprises me about Deadpool is how is feels like something that should have been released in the 90s. With its cheap, “knowing” postmodernism, it strikes me as more of a movie from twenty-five years ago than from the 2010s. The popularity of Deadpool continues

Rewatching the film as an adult, I’ve grown far more appreciative of the Carpet, which is now my go-to example for the magic of animation at its best. No lines, and not even any recognizable facial features, yet the thing just bursts with personality every single second it’s on screen, and you know exactly what it

I get that it’s not directly salient to a recap of the movie, but it’s worth pointing out that this, like The Lion King and IIRC The Little Mermaid, was a pretty direct ripoff of previous work (in this case, The Thief and The Cobbler). Three of Disney’s biggest hits ever were almost direct copies
